VBS newsletter TO THE POINT

October, 2011

Purchasing one or two VBS special edition t-shirts is the easiest way to support our ballet school in effort to keep the training value HIGH and tuition LOW.

Also it is good to know that the VBS t-shirt is a part of your girl's uniform for the Contemporary and Broadway classes and is required to be worn during the Snow Queen press release photo shoot.

All girls look great in white and pink!

Thank you for your support!

The Snow Queen rehearsal season starts mid October. The rehearsals will be held on the weekends.

Here is how it works:

  1. Please sign-up your child at the lists for participation at the show.
By signing up you agree for your child to participate in the rehearsals – FREE of charge, and are responsible to pay rent for her/his costume for the show.
  • Group of Pre-School ballet and Beginners I (5-7) - Snowflakes
  • Group of Beginners II (6-8) - Group dances
  • Group of Int. I and Int. II - auditions for Soloists on Oct. 15th at 2:00 PM.

Please see information on the board.
Now, we love surprises, so any VBS student may audit for the soloist role.

Enthusiastic parents are welcome to share the stage with their children by playing Villagers in the show. Please consider this amazing opportunity of bonding with your child and approach us for that matter.

  1. The full schedule with all rehearsal dates will be placed on the board in the studio.
    Please mark your calendar.
  2. It is that easy!

NOTE: Failure to attend rehearsals will jeopardize the entire rehearsal process.

Missing rehearsals will affect your child's ability to know her/his part in the show and may result in disqualifying from the show. The choreography for each dance depends greatly on symmetry of the group, meaning each child has to have a partner so there is an equal number of dancers both sides from the centerline.

The choreographer and your child's partner count on your child to be in the show. If one child gets disqualified, the choreography picture gets out of balance and, the worst case of scenario, - her/his partner might loose an opportunity to perform.

Please be considerate of other children!

Thank you

Verona Ballet School stuff welcomes new and returning students and their parents. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are excited about the coming year as much as we are.

This year will introduce your child to many new and exciting learning experiences of the Classical Ballet, Ballroom, Contemporary and Broadway dance styles.

Our hope is that this email and the emails to follow will help you to know what to expect through out the year and answer any questions you may have about the daily and rehearsal procedures.

Effective communication is the essence of good learning. We believe that working closely with our student's parents is paramount in teaching and student success. Throughout the year, we will communicate with you through e-news letters and board messages. We encourage you to contact us at any time with any questions or concerns you may have via e-mail or phone. By working together we know that we can make this year of ballet achievement and a personal success for your child.

Important message from your dance instructors:

- Please note that poorly fitting ballet shoes and loose elastic may be a reason for your child to trip and fall during the class.

- Also please make sure no underwear showing underneath the leotard. Hair must be neatly arranged in a bun with hair- matching hairnets, bobby pins and long pins if required.

- To limit distraction, it is the school policy that there shall be absolutely no parents observing the class from the studio benches. There are seats available in the dressing room and the office. Parents are invited to observe Preschool and Beginner classes during the first week of December, March and May.

This year we are thrilled to welcome Tony, our new staff instructor of Contemporary I and II and Broadway classes.

As a performer, Tony has performed in over twelve hundred performances of Disney and Cameron Macintosh's smash hit  Mary Poppins .
